in november 2017, i took part in the 'signature hack' of mit's hacking arts festival, which brought a group of engineers to work with artist agnieszka kurant. the piece -- fictional animals operated by thousands of people -- explored ideas of artificial society and collective behaviour, through the lens of internet-broadcast nature. the code i wrote (a sugarscape environment controlled by semantic data from twitter, that in turn controls a swarm of hex bug 'gerbils' can be found here. This project has since been featured as part of SFMOMA's Heavy Machinery issue, edited by Mike Pepi.
